Finally, in my mid-forties, I had a major flare that
involved my brain. This caused an end to my exciting
and satisfying career. Lupus continues to disrupt my
cognitive functioning, but it has not affected my spirit.
I am thankful to the Lupus Foundation New England, and
to the people who inspire me and help me to rebuild
my life. I am still the happy, involved, and fulfilled
woman I have always been, but I now rely on previously
unused talents. Lupus has given me a different life;
it has created new possibilities for me, and I am excited
to explore them.
